About Us


Why should I use Storage Squad?
Storage Squad has a unique approach to student storage. We work WITH our customers and treat them fairly and kindly no matter what. We do not have unfair fees and our employees are enthusiastic and kind. We understand that finding a place to put all of your items is a stressful process – our goal is to make it easy, fun, and stress free! Our team is full of friendly, outgoing, and competent people offering a great service at a great price. Simply put, we are the Depaul University storage experts.

Where do you take my items?
We store items in a secure warehouse in Syracuse. Our warehouse is dry, secure, and climate controlled.

Is your facility climate controlled?
All of our storage facilities are properly ventilated and humidity controlled to keep your items dry and protected from the elements.

How big is the Storage Squad Mega Box you deliver to customers for free?
The Mega box, which you can see pictured to the right, is about the size of 4-5 standard sized pillows stacked on top of each other.

Logistics

Can I use my own boxes or store items that do not fit in boxes?
Of course, we store anything! Our packing supplies are optional so you can use your own boxes for our storage service or store items that are unboxed.

Can you deliver boxes and pickup/deliver my items to an off campus location?
Yes! We offer storage services to customers anywhere within a reasonable distance from campus free of charge. Additional fees might apply for pickup or deliveries which are more than 10 minutes from campus but we promise they won’t break the bank!

Do I have to be present for my storage pickup or drop off appointment?
You do not, but it is recommended! Many customers at Syracuse have friends or roommates sign for their storage if they need to catch a flight or cannot make their appointment. Friends can also collect boxes and other packing supplies for you if you cannot make it to our box delivery points.

When in my pickup time slot will you arrive?
We will send you an email the evening before your storage pickup and delivery appointment with a smaller time window of our arrival. If you live at a large dorm with many other customers or in a popular housing complex you can generally count on being at the beginning of the slot. If you live off Syracuse’s campus or in a smaller apartment or house you can generally count on being towards the end of the slot if it is a busy day.

I can only be available for part of my time slot. What do I do?
When the email is sent the evening before with your estimated pickup or delivery time, you can always respond with the phone number of a roommate who will be available to sign for your storage if you cannot make the appointment. You also have the option to change your appointment (free the day before) or pay a fee ($25) for a special time slot (1 hour) during the window. Sometimes customers leave their items in their room and a roommate or friend allows us in at a later appointment. Remember that we cannot enter dorms, houses, or apartments at Syracuse or any of our locations without an escort.

I need a pickup or delivery time/date that is not on your schedule. What do I do?
At most of our locations we can work with you to set up a special pickup for a small fee ($39). You can also leave your items in your room and have a friend or roommate escort us in during our normal pickup windows. Remember that we cannot go in to apartments or houses without customer escorts and we do not have keys to dorms at Syracuse. Generally – we would be happy to help you out in pretty much any situation.

What if I need to change my appointments?
You can change your appointments up to 48 hours prior using the link in the confirmation email sent after signing up. If you need to change it at the last second let us know via email (support@storagesquad.com). As long as the truck is not on its way to your house there will be no fee for this change.

What if I need to sign up for your services at the last second or the day of my desired appointment? Is there a fee for that?
While we recommend signing up as early as possible to guarantee a pickup slot, we are very flexible and do not charge fees for last second signups! If there is room on our trucks and in our warehouse we will find a way to pick up your items. We often work around the clock during the busy times so fill out a form and shoot us an email and we will do everything we can to make it work.

I need some items shipped home. How does it work and how much will it cost?
We can ship any box or luggage item for you! We do shipping pickups on the same schedule as our storage so you should simply schedule on our website just as you would for storage services. Make sure to label your items accordingly and include the shipping address on the form and on the items. We ship via UPS so the price is roughly what you would expect at a UPS Store (+ or – 10%). All shipping is processed and dropped off at UPS within a few days of pickup.

Is there a weight limit on the boxes?
It is unsafe for our employees to lift boxes heavier than 70lbs. Make sure to disperse the weight of books or other heavy items among separate boxes. Our boxes are strong, but rips or bursts can occur for very heavy boxes. There is a $25 fee for an overweight box and we may be forced to split the items up among separate boxes and you will be billed for storage accordingly.

Payment


How do I pay?
When we pick up your items we create an itemized list and send you an email invoice. This will allow you to pay with a credit or debit card online at your convenience. We do not accept cash. The payment must be made within 7 days of the sent invoice to avoid late penalties. Check your spam folder in your email if you cannot find the message.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards. We do not accept cash.

Are there any additional fees?
There are some additional fees for extra services or missed appointments. Generally – we work with our customers as much as possible to make everything go smoothly but sometimes things do come up. Please note that all fees listed here are subject to change based on scheduling and other circumstances.
In Room Service (each way) – $15
Special Pickup or Drop off (not on schedule) – $39
Overweight box (70lbs or greater) – $25 + possible repackaging
Items not labeled upon pickup – $10
Unthawed refrigerator – $25
Request for specific appointment during window – $25 (if possible)
Late Payment (after 7 days) – $25 + $1 each additional day
Missed appointment – $39
Appointment change less than 4 hours prior – $25

When is the payment due?
Payment is due 7 days after the invoice is sent to your email address. Make sure to check your spam folder if it is not in your inbox.

Do you charge a reservation fee?
Of course not! While many companies charge a fee for signing up for storage services, we believe this to be unnecessary and unjust. We are paid to store your items. Not to store your items AND make an appointment. Next time your local barber tells you to pay $25 to schedule an appointment and then another $25 for the haircut, leave and head to the next barber. The same can be said for storage!

Insurance


What if you lose or damage my items?
We understand your life is often placed into the boxes we store, so we handle them with care! In the rare case we lose or damage your items – each item is automatically insured up to $100 and you have the opportunity to purchase additional insurance for $5 per $100. To avoid damage be sure to properly pack your items. There are a few items that cannot be insured – listed below.

How does insurance work?
Insurance works on a per-item basis in $100 increments only. Each item is automatically insured up to $100 and you can add additional insurance for $5 per $100 of insurance. When you purchase additional insurance you must place it on individual items (not the entire order).

Are there any items that can’t be insured?
Yes there is! Improperly packed items, fragile items, sentimental items, cash or currency, and electronics not in original packaging can’t be insured past the $100 of initial insurance. To see a breakdown of the full list please check out our terms and conditions.




Each Storage Squad Signature box will have a label already on it and you can request additional labels when your boxes are delivered. If you don’t have enough, simply print out these labels and tape them on to your items on the front in the top right corner. Please do not tape them on the bottom or top of the items.
