Why should I use Storage Squad?

How big is the Mega Box you provide for free?
Our Mega Box comes in one size – 24”x18”x15” – or 3.8 cubic feet. One Mega Box can fit an entire bed set (i.e. comforter, flat and fitted sheet, and two pillows)! A typical dorm room or small apartment requires 4-6 Mega Boxes to pack.
How does your storage process work?
First, you create an account through our website and submit a signup form where you’ll be able to enter your contact info, select a pickup date, and request FREE packing supplies.
We then deliver packing supplies at the date/time/location of your choosing.
Three days before your appointment you’ll receive an email with your 1-3 hour pickup appointment window.
On the morning of your pickup you’ll receive a text message with a link where you can track our truck throughout the day. Our crew will contact you when they are on the way to your location and when they have arrived. They will make sure all of your items are labeled correctly, build your invoice, load your items onto the truck, and bring them back to our secure storage facility where your items will remain until you return to campus.
We can ship pre-packaged items anywhere in the continental US via UPS ground. Items for shipping are picked up on the same schedule as our storage pickups. You can either select to have your items shipped right away or we can ship them at a later date of your choice! Select this service on your Sign Up Form at the bottom of the second page. Where can I see your availability and appointment options at my school?
To see our packing supply handout schedule, pickup, delivery, and shipping dates, first Choose Your School then select the “Availability” tab to view your school’s calendar. We typically deliver boxes during the last week of classes, offer pickups during the 7-10 days prior to the last day of finals, and deliver 7-10 days prior to the first day of classes in the fall. However, we can still accommodate dates outside of our standard windows but fees may apply at certain locations.
Where do you take my items?
We store your items in a secure humidity controlled storage facility near your campus. All of our warehouses are equipped with commercial grade dehumidifiers to protect against humidity and mold/mildew. We highly recommend that customers put their clothing items in a plastic bags before placing them in boxes or suitcases to protect against minor dust or dirt while in transit.
Can I visit your warehouse?
We don’t allow public access at our warehouse for security reasons. We make storage simple by picking up and delivering your items on demand so you never have to visit a storage unit again! Is your facility climate controlled?
All of our warehouses are equipped with commercial grade dehumidifiers to reduce moisture. Not all of our warehouses have automated temperature controls, but each is continuously ventilated during summer months.
Pricing and Payment
How does your pricing work?
All pricing is on a per-item basis, and the price of individual items depends on the size of the item. Pricing ranges from $27 for small items (under 2 cubic feet) to $57 for extra-large items (5-7 cubic feet). Our Signature Mega Box, which is large enough to fit a full bed set (comforter, flat and fitted sheet, and two pillows) comes in one size (3.8 cubic feet) and costs $37 to store for the entire summer or per 4 month term. If you would like to get your items picked up or delivered directly from your room there is an additional fee of $20. This charge is for your ENTIRE order, not per item. Please be sure to have all of your items packed and labeled before our crew arrives. Remember, Main Entrance service is FREE if you bring your items outside to us!
How do your prices compare to other companies?

We are able to offer these affordable prices because we are extremely efficient with our operations and pass these savings along to you!
How do I pay and what payment methods do you accept?
You do not need to enter your credit card information or pay anything before your items are picked up. Signing up for our service and scheduling your appointment is FREE! When our crew arrives for pickup, they will count your items, correct any mislabeled items, build your storage/shipping inventory using our Storage Squad App, and take a couple of pictures. 24-48 hours after your pickup, you’ll receive a email when your itemized invoice (including pictures) is ready to be viewed/paid on your Storage Squad Account. Once the invoice has been sent, you will have seven days to pay online via credit, debit card, or Paypal. We accept all major credit cards. How do I get price estimates on unique items?
To get a quote on unique items please send a photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. All items are priced based on size. Pictures help us to provide a more accurate quote! You can check out our standard pricing by visiting https://www.storagesquad.com/student-pricing/. Please remember that larger furniture items cannot be stored at some locations.
Are there any additional fees?
Below is the complete list of additional fees. These are only applied when applicable:

Do special appointments outside of your standard windows cost extra?
Special delivery dates outside of our standard availability cost $29. Check your school’s list of standard pickup and delivery dates by first Choosing Your School then selecting the “Availability” tab.
Your invoice will be added to your customer portal within 24-48 hours of your pickup appointment. Once received, you will have seven days to pay your invoice. This invoice can be paid from anywhere using a major credit card, debit card, or Paypal account! After seven days, there is a $25 + $5 per day late penalty for invoices left unpaid after seven days.
Is there a fee for boxes or to reserve my appointment?
There is no fee to get packing supplies and it is free to schedule your appointment!
Is there a fee to cancel my service?
If you have not yet received your boxes there is no fee to cancel your appointment. Simply send an email to email@example.com with your name, Customer ID, school, and whether or not you have received packing supplies.

How do I get the empty boxes and tape?
Empty Mega Boxes and tape are handed out free of charge at convenient dates/times/locations around campus leading up to finals week and move-out. You can see our Packing Supply Handout schedule at your school by visiting https://www.storagesquad.com/supply-handout-maps/.
Where can I see the Packing Supply Handout schedule at my school?
What if I can’t make Packing Supply Handout appointment?
If you cannot make your Packing Supply Handout you can have a friend meet us on your behalf or purchase your own boxes for storage.
Can you bring the boxes directly to my room?
Unfortunately, we are unable to do so based on time constraints. If you are worried that you cannot carry all of the empty boxes please bring a friend with you!
I plan to store my own boxes and items. What if I do not need boxes delivered?
No worries, you do not need to request boxes from us! When signing up, simply select that you do not need boxes delivered and print labels for your items at www.storagesquad.com/labels/.
Can you store furniture or unboxed items?
We cannot store furniture requiring more than 1 person to move (except for mattresses and box springs). We can take unboxed items without issue as long as they are secured for transit. Simply put a label on the side of any unboxed item and it is ready to go. All pricing is based on size and explained at https://www.storagesquad.com/student-pricing/. Below is a list of items which we cannot store:

Is there anything that cannot be stored?
Yes, there are certain fragile or dangerous items that we recommend you do not store. These items are all listed in our Terms and Conditions at www.storagesquad.com/terms-and-conditions/. Also, we cannot store the following furniture items:

-Dressers (more than 3′ tall or wide)
-Tables (more than 3′ tall or wide)
-Unboxed TV’s over 40″

Do you protect my items before moving them?
When signing up for an appointment, you will have the option to rent moving blankets for $5/blanket and purchase mattress bags for $10/bag. These supplies will be given to you at your Packing Supply Handout.
How does the pickup and delivery service work?
Storage Squad offers two options for pickup and delivery. The first option, Main Entrance Service, requires you to bring your items down to us outside your building and is free of charge. The second option is to have your items picked up directly from your room, which costs $20 total (each way).
3 days before your pickup or delivery appointment you will receive an email confirming your appointment time. On the day of your pickup or delivery appointment you’ll be texted a link that allows you to track our trucks throughout the day!
Main Entrance Service means pickup or delivery on the side of the road closest to your building where you meet our crew. We let you know exactly when we will arrive with a text message and or phone call.
What is In Room Service?
Room Service means that we pick up all of your items directly from your room! This service costs an extra $20 total (each way) no matter how many items you have.
Do I have to be present during my box delivery, pickup, and delivery?
No. You can have a friend or roommate meet our crew by giving us their contact information on the scheduling form. We can also drop off your items for delivery without your physical presence. You will simply need to grant us permission on your scheduling form.
Can you pickup or deliver to an off campus location?
Yes! We can service anywhere within a 10 minute drive of campus free of charge! If you live in one of our major cities and live in a unique location, please send us an email to check if there are any additional fees.
The storage pickup windows or delivery dates do not work for me. What do I do?
You have two options. You can have a friend or roommate meet our crew, or you can set up a special delivery for dates that are outside our standard dates for a $29 fee.
I am only available during part of my pickup time slot. What do I do?
The first option is to have a friend be available at your residence for your appointment. If that is not an option, you can set up a guaranteed, two hour window within our time slot for a $50 fee. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to set this up!
When will you arrive during my pickup time slot?
You will be notified 3 days before your pickup appointment of a 1-3 hour time window for you appointment. You will also be able to track our truck on your appointment date as our crew gets closer to you!
How do I change my appointment(s)?
Your entire order can be managed through you Storage Squad Account. Once you create an account you will be able schedule/edit appointments, view/pay invoices, and contact our support team! In the event that you need to change or edit appointment information when your scheduled appointment is less than 48 hours away, send an email to email@example.com and we will do our best to accommodate your needs!
If having your items delivered at the start of the Fall semester, the deadline for changing your delivery appointment is the first week of August. After this date, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to make changes.
Can I sign up for your service at the last second? Is there a fee?
There is no fee for signing up at the last second! Simply submit a scheduling form and then follow up with an email to email@example.com to confirm we can fit you on the schedule.
Is there a weight limit on the boxes?
There is a 70 lb weight limit on the boxes. Please make sure to disperse heavy items (books, weights, etc) among several boxes to spread out the weight. Our overweight box fee is $25.
When can I expect my delivery on my delivery day?
Two days before you scheduled delivery date we will email you a 1-3 hour time window for your delivery. Deliveries begin at approximately 8-9 a.m. and they continue throughout the day. You can request a guaranteed evening delivery (between 3-7pm) for a $35 fee. Remember that you can also have a friend meet our crew or give us permission to drop the items off unattended for free.
I don’t know when I will be arriving on campus or where I will be living. What do I do?
If you aren’t sure where you will be living or when you will be arriving prior to signup that is completely fine! We do not request any delivery information on the signup form. Once your items have been picked up and invoice has been paid, you’ll be able to enter your delivery details through your Storage Squad Account. Just make sure to enter this information prior to the first week of August!
How do I change or update my delivery information?
You can change your scheduled delivery appointment and location by simply logging into your Storage Squad Account. Make sure to update this before the first week of August to avoid a fee.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping cost varies depending on item size, weight, and its destination. For an estimate of your shipping cost, please use our shipping calculator found at www.storagesquad.com/shipping/
Are there items that I cannot ship?
We can ship any item that is securely packaged in a cardboard box or suitcase/luggage before being in our possession. Items which are not properly packed for shipping or that require special protection or shipping methods cannot be shipped by us. For example, large unboxed items such as furniture, tv’s, micro-fridges, and bicycles cannot be shipped. We also cannot ship plastic bins as they are brittle and will break in transit.
Can I ship electronics?
We strongly recommend not shipping items such as televisions, printers, etc. Televisions are not intended to be shipped via UPS ground and will often not be covered by UPS insurance. If you ship a television or other electronic item requiring special attention, please note that you are doing so at your own risk!
Are my items for shipping insured?
All insurance claims for shipments are handled by UPS. UPS insures each package for $100 by default. If an item is damaged while being shipped by UPS, Storage Squad does not offer any coverage as this damage is out of our control. If you would like additional declared value insurance on your shipment, please let us know prior to shipping your items so that we can process this along with your shipment. Below is a detailed overview of UPS insurance policies:
“UPS’ liability for loss or damage is limited to US$100.00 on shipments with no declared value. If the value of your goods exceeds US$100.00, you can declare a higher value, up to US$50,000.00 per package, or US$100,000 per pallet for UPS Worldwide Express FreightSM (subject to terms and conditions) by entering the declared value in the UPS shipping system used and paying an additional charge.”
Do you protect my items for shipment?
Our crew reinforces the outside of each box shipped with additional tape. However, we strongly recommend that all items are prepared and protected by the customer prior to shipment. Please pay special attention to your items contained within each box as we are unable to apply additional protection to anything inside.
Declared Value and Item Protection
How does declared value work?
Each item you store includes $100 of free Declared Value protection, meaning, in the extremely rare event that a stored item is damaged or lost, you are automatically protected up to $100 for each affected item. Additional protection may be purchased for a cost of $5 per $100 of Declared Value protection added. The maximum protection per item is $400 and the maximum protection for all items combined is $1,000.
Declared Value must be allocated on a per item basis. If you decide to purchase additional Declared Value you will receive small orange Declared Value stickers from our crew at your Packing Supply Handout. The number of stickers you receive corresponds to the amount of Declared Value purchased. Each sticker equals $100 of additional Declared Value. It is the customer’s responsibility to allocate and attach these stickers to the items they would like to further protect.
There are certain items like glassware, mirrors, Ikea furniture, and others (please check our Terms and Conditions) that cannot be insured! Electronics not in their original packaging can only be reimbursed for the cost of storage.
Please note that Declared Value protection refers to the total value of a package/item, not $100 for each individual article contained within.
Are my items automatically insured?
Each item you store, except for a few fragile items or unboxed electronics, comes with $100 of declared value protection. You can purchase additional declared value on a per item basis for $5 per $100 of additional declared value.
Does the $100 default declared value cover all items within my package?
Please note that the $100 default declared value protection refers to the total value of a package/item and is not $100 per individual article contained within a package/item. For example, a Mega Box containing three jackets, each valued at $100, does not have a declared value insurance amount of $300 by default. Rather, it would still only be $100. The $100 amount is for the combined value of all contents of the package/item. In this instance, a customer should request an additional $200 of declared value insurance ($10 cost) on this package to cover the full value of the Mega Box in the rare event of damage or loss.
How do I purchase insurance?
When scheduling an appointment, you can choose how many increments of $100 additional declared value protection you would like to purchase. This amount will be distributed to you at your Packing Supply Handout via Declared Value Stickers. Each sticker represents $100 of additional insurance and you will place the desired amount next to the label on each item you wish to insure. For example, if you wish to add $200 of additional declared value insurance onto one of your Mega Boxes, simply place two Insurance Stickers next to the label. Don’t forget to remind our crew on what items you have placed insurance on when we arrive!
Are there any items that cannot be insured?
There are several items that cannot be insured. Glass or extremely fragile items, electronics outside of their original packaging, particleboard furniture, cash, and jewelry are a few. Please note that the $100 is per item stored, not each individual article contained with a box/bin. Please consult our Terms and Conditions to see if your items can be insured.
Are there any limits on declared value protection?
Yes – you can only add $400 of additional insurance to the $100 of included insurance on each item. We also have a limit of $1,000 per order. Please do not store items worth more than $400. Please note that the $100 is per item stored, not each individual article contained with a box/bin.
How does item protection work?
When scheduling an appointment, you can choose to have mattress bags and moving blankets delivered along with your other packing supplies. Moving blankets can be rented for $5/each and mattress bags can be purchased for $10/each. Please note if you do not wish to purchase a mattress bag from us you must provide one on your own as we cannot store unprotected mattresses.
